GUIDE
Connecting takes a few minutes and happens once per assistant. Afterwards you ask questions in the assistant and it answers from your AwardsCapture account. This page walks through each step, says what the assistant can and cannot do once it is connected, and shows how to disconnect it.
You need an AwardsCapture account on Pro, Consultant or Agency, and an assistant that can add connectors. On Starter the connection is not available, and everything else on the plan works as it always has. If you are not sure which plan you are on, it is shown in Settings under Plan and usage.
Every assistant that supports connectors has a place to add one, usually under its settings or integrations. Choose to add a new one and, when it asks for the address, paste https://mcp.awardscapture.com/mcp. The assistant reads what it needs from that address; there is nothing else to type and no key to copy.
The assistant sends you to awardscapture.com to sign in with your usual email and password. If you use two-step sign-in, that step happens here too. Your password is never given to the assistant; it only ever sees AwardsCapture's own sign-in page.
Once you are signed in, AwardsCapture sends you back and the connection is made. If your plan does not include the connection, this is the point at which you are told, in one sentence, and nothing is connected.
Try "what is due this week" or "which opportunities match my youth mentoring project". If your account holds more than one organization, the assistant will ask which one you mean before it answers, every time a question does not say. It never guesses and it never blends two organizations into one answer.
You can ask it to put an opportunity on the pipeline at a stage, to create a task with a due date, to log a conversation you had with a funder, or to add a funder from the directory to your relationships by its identifier. Adding a funder makes the relationship record and nothing else: no pipeline entry, and no contact copied from a filing. You can also ask it to draft a concept note or a letter for one of your concepts to a funder on your list; that goes through the same drafting the application does, draws on the same allowance, and lands in Funder Approaches with its cover email. Each time it confirms in a sentence what it did and where in the application it went.
Use your own organization's name and your own project's title; the assistant asks which organization you mean whenever a question does not say.
It will not delete anything, on any request. It will not export your data, and every list it returns is capped at fifty rows with a note saying how many more exist. It will not list, browse or search the directory: it looks up one funder or one opportunity at a time, by its identifier, and single lookups are capped per day so the directory cannot be copied out one record at a time. Browsing the directory stays in the application. It will not add award amounts together. It will not reach an organization your own sign-in cannot reach. And it does not carry an allowance of its own: anything it does that draws on a monthly allowance draws on the same one the application uses, and if that allowance is used up it says which one.
Open Settings and choose Connected apps. Every connection is listed with the name the assistant gave itself, when it was connected and when it was last used. Press Disconnect and it stops working on the assistant's very next request. The account owner sees every connection on the account and can end any of them; everyone else sees their own.
If the plan changes to one that does not include the connection, every connection on the account is ended at the same moment and the account owner is emailed. Moving back to a plan that includes it does not reconnect anything; you connect again from the assistant when you want to.
